SEED: Pica Pica

A fun little raytracing playground project at EA SEED!

I was a core part of the team at EA SEED who created the "Pica Pica" ray-tracing demo for GDC 2018, led by Colin Barré-Brisebois.

Ken Brown, Anastasia Opara and I collaborated to drive art direction and content creation on a tight deadline.

Teaser trailer

The footage for this trailer was all captured in real-time at 30fps using ray-traced reflections in an internal prototype engine.

Robot model

We needed a cute and friendly mascot for the demo, so I designed, modelled and textured this little robot. It was used as the avatar for our Deep Learning AI agent.

I created the robot and all electronic component assets - all other environment models were created by Ken Brown and Anastasia Opara. I also handled most of the material creation and lighting, and all camera work for the trailer which was edited by Ken Brown.

You can read more about the project and see the full-resolution 4K screenshots on the official SEED website.
